Though the leaves on the trees are still very green and the temps reached well int the 80's today, I was so in the mood to for a fall table setting. Besides, Friday is the first official day of fall.
I've always wanted to create a table setting with magnolia leaf chargers.
I just thought it would be for a Christmas tablescape. But, why wait for Christmas?
My magnolia tree was planted by a previous owner in a very bad spot. It's really close to the house. Imagine, a Southern Magnolia, Magnolia Grandiflora, planted approximately 12-15 feet from the house...what were they thinking? I was told by a landscaper I should cut it down. My answer?
No way! I love that tree. So, I just try to keep it somewhat at bay by using its wonderful leaves for table settings and Christmas decorating. If it ever gets cut down or limbed up, it will have to be the next owner of this house. I just can't do it.
Besides, I can't risk the chance of being haunted for the rest of my life! Yep, haunted! Don Hastings, author of the Gardening in the South book series states very clearly on page 112 in his Trees, Shrubs and Lawns book...
"Be forewarned that if you prune off the lower limbs of a Southern Magnolia to make a high-headed tree, I will personally come back from the next life and haunt you." I'm not taking any chances. ;)
The stores are filled now with mums in vivid fall colors. One hopped right into my buggy this past week and asked to come home with me.
Bells in autumn colors, tied with colorful ribbon, worked well as napkin rings for this fall tablescape.
Hard to see, but the red ribbon has a pretty golden, leaf design.
You may remember this colorful rooster china.
I've used it at least once before for a Tablescape Thursday, HERE. For three of the place settings, I paired the dinner plate with a salad plate in the same rooster pattern.
Marshalls only had three of the salad plates in the rooster pattern, so three place settings were completed with red, ruffled-edged salad plates. Don't have enough of a particular china pattern? No problem...just mix and match. The tables where everything isn't perfectly matched are always the most fun and the most interesting!
The dinner plate...
This china was a steal from Marshalls this past spring. Dinner plates and salad plates were only $2 each. You really don't have to break the budget to create different table settings for the seasons...just watch for those sales. Six dinner plates and six salad plates for only $24. Awesome!
Love the colors! Though, this china is called Fall Rooster, its sunflower pattern is perfect for a summer table setting, too.
I layered a colorful paisley napkin underneath a solid color one for a little extra pizazz.

Chrysanthemums in vivid fall colors create a wonderful centerpiece.
They were so pretty, I didn't even add candlesticks to this table setting.
I tucked them, pot and all, down inside a fall-themed tureen purchased a couple of years ago at Cracker Barrel. Cracker Barrel carries some of the cutest tabletop decor.
I know several folks bought this same tureen when I shared finding it on sale with BNOTP Facebook Fans. I always try to let you know via Facebook when I find the bargains so you can snag them, too.
Cute rooster salt and pepper shakers finish out our rooster themed table setting.
