Day 3
{Candy Corn Pots}
{Supplies}
The Base: Paint below the rim of the primed terra cotta pot with yellow paint. You might need to do two coats depending on the paint.
Once the yellow paint is dry, apply a piece of painter’s tape around the pot at the center of the base. {covering the lower half the yellow paint} Rub the edge of the tape well. Paint the upper half of the pot orange just up to the rim. Let dry and remove tape.
The Rim: Now paint the rim of the pot with white paint. Let dry.
**************
OPTIONAL: Add splattered paint effect to the top of the rim(best done outside): Cover the lower base of the pot with painter’s tape, water down a small amount of orange paint, dip an old toothbrush into the paint, blot off excess paint on a paper napkin (brush should feel almost dry), and now using your thumb, drag your thumb across the bristles of the toothbrush and let the orange paint splatter over the white rim.! You might what to practice this first on a piece of paper :D
The Face: With a sharpie marker, draw eyes just below the rim on the orange paint. Fill any “whites” of the eye with white paint. Also with the marker, draw a funny mouth below the eyes on the yellow paint. Glue on a nose!

***Remember, these kids crafts are to be simple and fun as well as inexpensive. If you don’t have a pom-pom, use a small button. If you don’t have a small button, use a wooden dot. If you don’t have a wooden dot, well….. you get the idea….. use what you have. It’s about having fun! For the kids and you!!!
******
Oh, one last thing, wouldn’t these be cute if you filled them with potting soil and sprinkled on some grass seeds(another educational moment)
They would be like a ….. Chia Pet!!!!
and wouldn’t the kids have fun cutting the grass the hair into funny hair styles! Too cute…..
