    Flower Outline

***Note:  Originally I used a lighter weight material and sewn around the edges but to make this more kid friendly I have changed the material list to use felt.

The same basic supplies can make three different pins.  Select one or make all three!

    *****************

The Ghost:  Paint the wooden heart white.  While the paint is drying, trace and cut one flower shape out of white felt.  Using a thin Sharpie marker, draw a face on the newly painted heart (see photos for ideas).  You can add as much detail as you would like. (optional: add a touch of pink paint for the checks) Turn the wooden heart face over and glue the flower not quite all the way to the tip of the heart.  Glue the pin to the center of the back.  Cut a half inch of the white pipe cleaner and glue it on the back at the point of the heart.  1/4 of an inch should be protruding over the edge.

The Pumpkin: Paint the wooden heart orange.  Trace and cut a flower out of white felt.  (optional:  Trim the edge of the flower with green stitching or green paint)  Draw a face on the wooden heart (see photo for ideas).   Turn the wooden heart over to the back and glue a half inch brown pipe cleaner to the tip of the heart.    Next, glue the flower to the center of the back and then glue the pin in the center.

The Bat:  Paint the wooden heart black.  While the paint dries, trace and cut two flowers out of black felt.   Draw a face on the wooden heart (see photo for ideas).  You can add as much detail as you would like. (optional: color the eyes with green paint and the mouth with pale pink) Turn the wooden heart over to the back and glue an inch long black pipe cleaner to the center of the tip of the heart.  Bend the ends to curve up to create ears.   Fold the black felt flowers in half and glue one to each side of the heart with the “pedals” facing down.  Glue the pin to the center.
